Detective inspector Smith glanced at the note for the thirteenth time. The writing did not change.
Go to the house with the blue door on 7th street and you will know all.
All about what? Smith had been off duty for the past year recovering from Pneumonia and was not engaged on any active case.
He looked back over his decade on the force. He had started in white collar crime and had several successful fraud investigations under his belt.
He checked the back of the house and found a blank wall with a glass window. No air conditioner vents. He launched a drone and scanned the roof. It was plain with a single set of good quality solar panels.
They were clean but did not jibe with the steps which were cracked and had seen much use. Plants grew between some of them.
The lock of the door was ordinary and there was an old fashioned knocker on the right of the door.
Smith considered, he could ignore the note today and come back tomorrow. The writer had not specified any time limit. He had enough saved that even if he had to retire, he could live comfortably and there were always openings in the private sector. He had been approached by 6 companies just last week.
That was when he saw the green light from between the cracks of the stairs.
He took the steps 2 at a time and knocked.
